Weekly Monday Chart

There's nothing you want more than lists, I know. So I'll be giving you a weekly list from now on, a weekly chart to be exact. Preferably posted on mondays. If possible with mp3's, even. Oh god! Yeah I know...

1. Gruppo Di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza - Azioni
Finally got a hold of this 2cd/dvd set from a way too soon forgotten Italian improv ensemble featuring Ennio Morricone among others. Unbelievable live registration on the dvd, amazingly quality. I need to listen some more to the 2 cd's but when I tell you that this is on par with every more known improv outfit you just have to believe me and hear/see for yourself.

2. Mêlée - with Aaron Siegel
review coming soon

3. Prurient - Pleasure Ground
A cd release from two cassettes I think, on Load records. Way more melodic than anything I've ever heard from Dominick Fernow. If harsh noise could sink into the realms of black metal Prurient will have something to do with it.

4. The Drones - Gala Mill
This record caught me by surprise the other day. After hearing it for the fourth or fifth time in two weeks without feeling anything special about it I was on the verge of giving up on it when it sparked a small fire last friday. Small but pleasantly burning. It's the dark heart of it that appeals to me I guess, songs about more than typical Australian references, languid, druggy garagevibes. The Saints in a slowmotion desertstorm or something.
Listen: 'I Don't Ever Want to Change'

5. Starving Weirdos - Sceance at Luffenhultz

Oldskool pick
Von LMO - Future Language

How can you not love the intro to this album. Spaceage heavy metal punk, Sun Ra fronted by David Thomas. Haha, but not really, the first minute is the roughest you'll hear from Von LMO but that doesn't mean the rest is less satisfying. Cosmic riffing collides with the concrete saxophone blurts. The sci-fi twist is not really an extra here, just an excuse to use some silly new bought effects, can't blame them either.
