1. Wolf Eyes - Human Animal [Subpop]

I didn't expect this to happen. I knew they could but I didn't think they'd do it with a Subpop release. After all they already released River Slaughter, a killer double lp, on Hospital which kind of foreboded a new, minimal direction and a multitude of limited, often even more minimal releases. Human Animal though, slayed everything and anything. An epic album stuffed with creepy tension, the throb 'n clang of industrial pioneers, twisted freejazz, insane build ups and climaxing thunder. It shouldn't be any other way.

To think about it, no band has withheld a backlash so persistent as this Michigan crew of outcasts. They've been a relative hype for about four straight years now and they're still winning over curious souls every new day. Why is that? Because they actually believe in what they do. Hence the enormous output, it's not only cashing in on a hype, cos after all that's been going on far too long to really be labelled as hype, it's a way of life. Human Animal might as well be the every member's nickname. Also, they shred live. They don't only live up to the horror on their albums, live they outdo it by a relative large number and while they do it they aren't afraid to launch awesome new acts, like Lambsbread for instance. They might even be the new Sonic Youth, without the sucking part.
