3. OM - Conference of the Birds [Holy Mountain]

This album is a goddamn altar. It towers above every Myspace infection, blog brutality and reach of mainstream music press. It's massive, bold, uncompromising and yet so amazingly enjoyable.

The moment the cymbals kick in and Al Cisneros lets his bass roll like 5 ton bricks into black oceans you feel a transcendent calm upon you. It can't be any other way, call this boring and your life sucks. 'At Giza' is the name of the first track and it doesn't only feel at Giza, it feels like the word of centuries of Egyptians locked into one doped up stoner groove, and more. Cisneros' meditative prose, while almost incomprehensible especially for non mythology scholars, soothes like yo momma reading you a bedtime story. The words are in the booklet but what do they matter anyway? The delivery makes the experience here and with the tremendously flexible bassplaying and the enervating washes of percussion the whole truly feels like something done by people way beyond any form of songwriting. 'At Giza' makes such an entrance, it's no suprise that 'Flight of the Eagle' kind of suffers from it's intensity. Nevertheless it sustains the same powerful drift and when you.........ach....Same thing as yesterday, feel a little drained but do believe it brothers and sisters. This record is more powerful than a case full of bibles. Amen.
